MOFILM announces prizes for the U12 Competition
The response to our latest competition with Spike Lee and twelve of the world’s biggest brands has been truly amazing. So far hundreds of people have downloaded the brand briefs on the website.
Today I received some really good feedback from young filmmakers with the whole world ahead of them. Naturally there was a buzz around the $100,000 worth of prizes including two tickets to Sundance (HP) or any film festival around the world (Renaissance) and the chance to meet Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton (Vodafone).
Then one lone voice from the back asked “how do filmmakers ‘Get Noticed’?”
This sparked a lot of discussion about the merits of Nokia‘s prize, which will see the winning ad pre-loaded on every new Nokia handset in the UK, or Kodak‘s prize, which includes the winning ad playing in Times square, New York. As one young filmmaker said “Can you imagine that? My film playing on my friends’ phones or showing in one of the most iconic landmarks in the world?”
“Now that would be cool!”.
And the price? All you have to do is download one of the briefs and have a go. If you’ve always wanted to try making an ad or a film, MOFILM gives you that opportunity. It doesn’t matter where you’re from, but you do have to be older than 18 years old.
To help we’ve started adding toolkits for each of the brands involved. These help you understand the spirit of each brand and what they are trying to achieve as well as including valuable logos and other items that you can use in your work.
The final word as always should come from the community, so back to the young filmmakers. As one said “So I need to get in the mind of one of these companies, think ‘outside the box’ and come up with something completely different?”
Exactly, how hard can it be?
