London, United Kingdom: October 21st, 2009: MOFILM, a pioneer of user generated video competitions for major brands, today announced the grand prize winner of the MOFILM ‘make an ad’ competition at The Times BFI 53rd London Film Festival.

Aspiring filmmakers from over one hundred and fifteen countries had just six weeks to make an ad for one of thirteen iconic brands, including Aon, AT&T, Best Buy, Campbell’s, Häagen Dazs, Hewlett Packard, McDonald’s Nokia, Omo, Pepsi, Vaseline, Visa, and Yoplait USA. The top six videos were chosen by interactive vote before a distinguished panel of judges selected the winner. The winning ad will be screened at the MOFILM Gala Premiere of Clive Owen’s new film The Boys are Back. Each participating brand posted a brief on the MOFILM website, allowing entrants to upload their films and win recognition, prizes and the opportunity to work with the brands.

Animator Jeff Gill, who made the winning advertisement, said “I’m ecstatic. I’ve been a fan of MOFILM since the start and to be selected from such a strong field is amazing. The Vaseline brief really struck me as something that represented a challenge – a product for men that helps their skin – and allowed me to express my creativity”

Jeff’s advertisement will play at the MOFILM Gala premiere during the film festival in front of a star-studded audience. MOFILM is a main sponsor of this year’s London Film Festival bringing the world of online and mobile to the film festival.

Betsey Tomasulo, Senior Brand Manager for Vaseline said “MOFILM has been a great way for us to engage with filmmakers and creatives all over the world. User generated video is an exciting way for us to have a conversation with our consumers and we’re delighted that Jeff Gill has received deserved recognition for a fantastic ad for Vaseline.”

The winners were:

First:                         Vaseline            Jeff Gill  – Stop Ignoring Your Skin (USA)

Second:            McDonald’s            Marco Tessarolo – The Proposal (Italy)

Third:                        Pepsi                        Cesar Nery & Andre Saito – Americo (Brazil)
