What is a MOFILM?

As a simple rule of thumb a MOFILM is any piece of high quality film content that can be showcased on a mobile device within a 5 minute viewing window.  MOFILMs are acquired throughout the year via MOFILMs many competitions and film festivals, with genres ranging from Comedy to Horror, Sci-Fi to Documentaries, all of which are currently being enjoyed in 84 countries around the world.
The 32nd international short film festival was to be a new and truly enlightening experience for MOFILM.
The short film festival itself is based in Clermont-Ferrand, famous for its traditional black rock buildings that are made from the local volcanic stone found in the mountains around Volvic.

The festival is the largest of its kind allowing films from around the world to be submitted for award consideration and a valuable opportunity for broadcasters, financiers and larger film studios to assess emerging talent that can be seen in the cinematic world today.
Each year a common theme is chosen, 2010 saw retrospective Zombie animations, films and enactments take stage alongside films from Morocco.  Films that have been approved for consideration in the festivals are placed in segments depending on their subject and style.  You are able to watch these films in rotation at one of 19 cinemas across the town, showings start from  9am and run until midnight, a “Videotech” is also available so that you can watch individual titles in a viewing both.
The experience is more akin to going to a gallery than you local Odeon.  The first film that I saw “I Love Luci” by Colin Kennedy – whom I was fortunate enough to speak with afterwards – was outstanding.  The synopsis reads “A comedy of missing teeth, unrequited love and on dog’s potential to shape the fortunes of a couple destined never to be together” so much to fit into a 12 minute window, but expertly done, I was shocked, excited, disgusted but mainly laughing uncontrollably throughout and that was it…. like the methadone ruled characters I was hooked.
I watched many films, far too many to mention but all deserved the applause I gave at the end of each showing.  Spanning many themes, I watched ”Capucine”, “a film about gifted Capuchin monkeys learning the language of film” and during another viewing on an unlikely subject, I was to be enthralled by the sight of two Brazilian slaughter men putting together a cow! “Avaca”
This year MOFILM where invited to present our experience in MOBILE & BIG BRANDS to the Clermont-Ferrand audience.  Our forum slot was after that of Canal+ which may have explained the large turn out, however MOFILM has a lot to bring to the creative marketplace.  Our platform and business focus have always been built around technology and commerce, these areas are rarely seen working together so cohesively to promote the talent of individuals to the masses.
The discussion and questions illustrated the fact that MOFILM are providing a service, bringing the opportunity for film makers to work on exciting advertising campaigns with brands such as Pepsi, Visa, Unilever, and the list goes on.  Our prize incentives are also as unique as our business concept having finalists not only meet but collaborate with the likes of Spike Lee and John Landau.
The response was more than positive:- a selection of distributors and broadcasters wanting to take MOFILMs to their networks and film makers and other festivals wanting to take advantage of the MOFILM supply channel all formed orderly queues to speak to MOFILM.
If you get an opportunity to go you simply must, MOFILM will be there next year with our latest installment of achievements. It is too early to make stand announcements but if the electic mix of “Live Gypsy Jazz” is still playing in the Electric Tent you know where we will be!
