Why enter?
MOFILM competitions are a great way for aspiring filmmakers to enhance their industry reputation and win career-changing prizes.
One MOFILM regular, Jeff Gill, who has submitted films for the 2009 MOFILM Barcelona competition and the London Film Festival competition, works as an animator for South Park. He enters MOFILM competitions to sharpen his creativity and boost his industry reputation.
He said: “Entering the competitions is a fun exercise. Working to the briefs and working against a deadline improves your work. It’s like a maths problem, it’s inspiring. If you get onto the winner’s shortlist it also helps when you’re looking for jobs. You can genuinely say that a big brand was impressed with your work and that gives you traction with employers.”
MOFILM competitions are also recognised by the film industry as incubators for talent. Commented producer and judge Jon Landau: “It’s fantastic that aspiring filmmaking talents now have such a rewarding and creative way to get their name known. Ads and short films made outside of agencies and studios are going to start taking their place in showing the way in terms of originality. It’s going to shake up the industry.”
