Blue Velvet mystery woman creates cellphone-friendly insect porn series.
Isabella Rossellini, famed for her performance as the dazzling mystery woman in Blue Velvet and known as an established model and actress, turned her attention to a series of cellphone-friendly short films.
Created for Sundance Channel, the series of short films dubbed ‘Green Porno’ feature Rossellini dressed as various insect-based characters and details of their life-cylce and sexual habits. The films explore the nature of a dragonfly, spider, bee, praying mantis, worm, snail and housefly and each character’s sexual behaviour, re-enacted by Rossellini and cardboard cut-out counterparts.
Speaking to Wired, Rossellini explains how the concept for the series originated, “I’ve always been very interested in animals, so I knew that insects had these very odd ways of mating and I thought, ‘Oh, it’d be great to do a series of little films about how different bugs mate’.”
“I’ve kept my nature books and always made little notes about these mind-blowing things insects do, and I also called friends who were scientists. The information in Green Porno is correct, but the way we sell it is absurd.”
